Mary Diane Perry, 59, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Union
Hospital in Dover, O., following a sudden illness.
Born July 28, 1950, near Uhrichsville, O., she was a daughter of the late Charles Richard and Bessie
Mae (Smith) Hollis.
Diane was a lifelong resident of the area who had worked at the Scio Pottery for a number of years.
She enjoyed the time that she worked there and kept track of her co-workers over the years. She was
also a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker and had been a member of First Christian
Church in Dover. Diane was a former member of the Uhrichsville Moose Ladies' Auxiliary, the Ratchet
Jaw CB Club and the Friendly CBers, as well.
On Nov. 3, 1985, Diane married Emmanuel L. "Mike" Perry with whom she would have celebrated her 24th
wedding anniversary next month. She is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and
Melissa (Cable) Carpenter and their daughter, Cierra, of Reynoldsburg, O.; a son and
daughter-in-law, Rusty and Jessie Carpenter and their children, Maddie and Aiden of Uhrichsville; a
granddaughter, Briana of Uhrichsville; a sister, Betty Bartimus of Uhrichsville; a brother, Ralph
Hollis of Dennison; two nieces, Nikki and Felicia; and two great-nieces, Kailee and Josalin. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Zelma Ray.
A memorial service for Diane, officiated by her cousin, Jeff McDonald, will be held at 7 p.m. on
Friday, Oct. 23, in First Christian Church at 3025 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, with her family receiving
callers at the church for an hour prior to the service. Interment will be with her parents in West
Union Cemetery at Gilmore.
Those wishing to honor Diane's memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the
Mary Diane Perry Memorial Fund at any Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union branch.
